A beautiful blue-green color named after the semiprecious stone that before the discovery of the Americas was found in Siberia, Persia, and, Turkey, that country lending it’s name to the best varieties of the stone. For centuries the color could never be imitated by artists and it was said to have magical qualities.
These days some excellent pigments are in this Turquoise color range, especially some varieties of cobalt, but the most common ingredients in most tubes labeled turquoise is a simple mixture of Pthalo Blue and Pthalo Green with or without the addition of some white.
