Primary Colors

These are the 3 colors that fundamental, cannot be made by any combination of other colors and if pure enough could theoretically be used to make all other colors. When dealing with pure colored light the primaries are red green and blue, these primaries are called additive. All 3 together will produce white. They exactly correspond to the 3 color receptors in our eyes. Paint does not seem colored because it is a light source, it has color because of absorption and reflection of light. For this reason it is called a subtractive color system. Here the primaries are red yellow and blue. Add them together and you get black All painted art uses the subtractive primaries, all video uses the additive.
