Where 2 or more media not traditionally used together are combined in the production of an art work following the more liberal practices in Western art during recent decades. Thus a painting may well have an addition of drawing media including dry media applied to the surface of the painting as a supplement that enhances the effect of the paint or otherwise interacts with the motif. Likewise a drawing may contain and element of traditional painting media for emphasis. Where such additions are small they do not stop a drawing being a drawing, nor a painting being a painting but instead serve to give emphasis to ideas in a liberating way.
