Focus stacking

A photography technique used in digital photography. It is where the photographer layers multiple images taken at different focus distances which produces an image with a greater depth of field.

For many photographers this technique was often done simply by combining images in Adobe Photoshop however there are also other software programs that automate focus stacking, for digital photography and film such as Syncroscopy AutoMontage, Helicon Focus and PhotoAcute Studio.
