A form of printmaking. Etching is an intaglio printmaking process that, since the time of Rembrandt been the artist’s first choice for artistic prints and creative expression, while engraving until the 19th century was preferred for commercial reproduction. Etchings have the great advantage of allowing a free and loose line, as curves easily follow the movement of the artists hand.
