A device for projecting small negatives on film onto paper as enlargements. Used in the darkroom to produce the final photographic print. An enlarger is really a camera in reverse. In the camera the image of the light filled world is concentrated onto a small piece of film. In the enlarger the light source is inside the box, and the lens expands the film image to the desired size. There are many different sized enlargers from small ones for 35mm film up to large ones able to use sheet film from large professional cameras.
