Crushed glass is often produced as a by-product of other manufacturing processes. It can be purchased in small bags from some art supplies stores where it has been coloured and graded. Crushed glass is great for impasto painting techniques.
WARNING: If you experiment with crushed glass, wear protective gloves and a breathing mask! Fine dust particles of glass are extremely dangerous and will damage your lungs if breathed in.
ART MAKING TIP: Try adding crushed glass to an impasto gel or painting medium to create texture. Other products that can be used in a similar way are Mica and Glitter.
