Canvas Wedges

Small pieces of timber that are firmly pushed or 'wedged' into the corners of a stretched canvas, between the stretcher bars they serve to 'tighten' the canvas surface. Over time a stretched canvas may become 'slack', therefore the use of wedges helps to ensure that the canvas always remains square, and tight.
