Burnish

Burnish means to make smooth or glossy by rubbing. In particular it is a term used in regards to Printmaking where by a metal plate is rubbed with a Burnisher ( a printmaking tool ) to smooth down the edges of the printing plate before it is printed. Burnishing can also be a term used for Pottery and Metal Sculpture.
