Bleed

Where two or more colors a cuased 'run' or 'mix' into one other. Bleed is sometimes a desirable effect that artists try to control whilst painting watercolors or dying fabric.

Bleed is also a term commonly used in the printing and publishing industry which describes the outer most edges of a printed item that will be trimmed off later. This is called leaving an area of bleed.
