Acrylic Painting

Very similar to oil painting, the colors are mixed with an acrylic emulsion and applied with brushes as with oils, however they have the advantage of faster drying and lower toxicity. Acrylics were introduced in the late 1950’s and are becoming increasingly popular. As they require knowledge of usage of mediums, and new approaches to paint application, many artists unfortunately fail to discover many of their advantageous qualities. Capable of a wide range of effects, they are often favoured in situations where experimentation is particularly important such school environments and abstract and other experimental artists.
